My Week with Alnitak

In July 2024, I spent a week volunteering in Mallorca, Spain, with non-profit organization Alnitak. Each day, when our multinational team of researchers and conservationists was not restoring our 200 year old mountain shelter, we set out to sea, feeding our souls and our shared passion for the ocean. While we scanned for turtles, dolphins, whales and other marine species, we also removed trash ranging from microplastics to ghost fishing gear from the ocean, and built and deployed a sustainable FAD (fish aggregating device).
